| The Centre for Radio Access Technologies
was established in the Department of Electronic Engineering at the
University of Natal, Durban in March 1997, through a tripartite agreement
between the University of Natal, Telkom (SA) and Alcatel Altech Telecoms .
The primary function of the Centre is to conduct research into radio
communication systems and networks, to train engineers in advanced
communication techniques, to offer MScEng and PhD degrees and to run courses
specifically designed for Telkom and the telecommunications industry. The
mission of the Centre is to become a centre of excellence in its research
and teaching activities, which would be directly related to the
technological requirements of the telecommunications industry. |
